You can leave us there 

And we would keep living our last days

Through the bliss of baking nights 

May through August

We could stay in embracing arms 

Trace each other stars for comfort 

And kiss in back seats 

What if we were introduced to the spring?

Trying in the winter might have been too much time inside

Could that have been it? 

You are the sunshine

And the summer led to too much vulnerability  

Exposure I wish I could take back 

Then show to you in another way 

Do you think if we touched 

When the flowers begin to bloom

Something in the air would strike differently? 

I could then tell you how I really feel

And you would be able to give me more?

I don’t want to be wistful for the past much longer 

But I have new ways of saying I love you

Do you think things could be different in the fall?

I thought about that last year

And the year before 

That your love for colors could bring us closer together

And wash away any room for second guessing 

I think it could be a good balance

The scenic landscapes outside our doors

With the symbolic wilting of the sun

Give us to the winter then

We could disappear into dive bars 

And speak of our past lives again

Bring your love of cooking back 

That I know went missing a long time ago

Just leave us to the winter then

In the snow from above
